Happy holiday's to you & you's!

we wanted to chat with the expert about money! So we interviewed the best! meet cara ivy, at the ivy league, llc! were so excited to have her and get a few tips from a great expert! So we had a few questions for the expert:

How can we economically transition our closets as we transition into different seasons that require a switch up in our wardrobe?

I love the idea of having staple pieces in my closet.  Staple pieces are simple; they are items that can be worn in a variety of ways.  My favorite pair of jeans are a simple blue pair, but I can pair them with a cute cardigan, a tank, or a plain white t-shirt. With the right accessories, I have 3 different looks with the same pair of pants! I am also a fan of layering.  Take your favorite summer dress, pair it with a sweater or duster and you have a brand new look!

What are a few quick tips we can give the readers to prepare for the holiday season approaching?

Plan: When planning, determine what you want to purchase for your loved ones, and start searching around for the best price.  Consider all options like shopping online, in-store sales, and even using comparison pricing tools.  One of my favorite places to shop is Target and they offer a toy at 50% off each day during the holiday season. I often find the toys my children request; they are happy and I’m saving!

Consider shopping earlier in 2017.  Christmas comes the same date every year, and its ok to make holiday purchase in July or August. If you prefer to wait until later in the year, create a holiday section in your budget and be sure to make deposits as often as you can.

Budget:  Think about the items you want to purchase for loved ones, and ensure its something you can afford.  While we all want to shower our family and friends with the world, some pockets are limited. Be realistic.

How important is it to have a great holiday season without breaking the bank?

It extremely important. Don’t get caught up in thinking you need to go broke or max out your credit cards to purchase the latest gadget; we often find ourselves paying for gifts months, sometimes years later. While we all want to exchange and receive presents, it is important to remember the holiday season is about spending time with the ones you love. The holidays are meant to be enjoyed, and should not result in a financial strain.

Lastly, what healthy financial practices can families do together to build financial awareness early with their families?

One main exercise all families can do is communicated. We often fail to discuss money within our homes, which could lead us down unclear paths.  Sit down to discuss your financial goals and the outcome. Show your children how to budget, and how to avoid frivolous spending. Create contest surrounding earning and saving; everyone ultimately wins.  Cultivate an environment where your family can thrive and succeed financially.

Thank you so much Cara for these amazing tips!! if you have any further questions for cara ivy please connect with her:

I was looking back at the cover of my book and I had to laughed inwardly lol like who is this chunky monkey. One thing I have learned is if you don’t like something and you can change it do. If you don’t like the circumstances change it, you have that much power! MAKE IT HAPPEN! So as I was approaching my  dirty thirty, I realized there was a few things I wanted to get in order, like getting a control on my weight, putting a better financial plan in place, letting go of dead weight and etc. So I realized the decisions that I was about to make may not feel good, but it will work for my good in my future.

So, as a starting point I began cut out sweets, all drinks with sugar, put a limit on my junk food  and etc. After that I started to run once a week and do yoga the days I didn’t run. Keep in mind yoga is not a physical exercise but a mental exercise, in which in the world we live in today that is needed more than we think! Everything starts with you and your perspective is absolutely everything so watch it. Elevate your mind to such a wealthy state that you have a attitude that will stop he enemy in his tracks and cause him to back off of you! You can do anything you out your mind to! It’s all up to you and It boils down to how bad do you want it! I didn’t realize how changing your diet can produce such greats thing pertaining to health, energy, mental focus and more! After I got the physical weight off I had to release the weight and burdens that sometimes we don’t even know we carry for other people. Its one thing to be a great friend or etc. but if you carrying , your luggage, your spouse luggage, your kids and everybody else’s, eventually you will fall. So what I did as a precaution was begin to manage the luggage I would carry and didn’t feel bad when I had to let it go. Because after all, I do have my own luggage that I own and I’m responsible for if nobody else’s. So, I challenge you to spend some time with God, meditate and ask God to help you identify the dead weight lingering in your life and the strength to let go.

Everything that we desire Is not always good for us. Junk food, soda pop, people that may mean us no good and etc. So, I challenge you to do a self check, just to make sure your on your path to becoming a greater you! Stay tuned for our next blog we have a financial expert with some great advice, at the perfect time just before the holidays!

Falling for FALL! What a beautiful time of the year! Perfect time for a much needed change! Wardrobe, scenery and more! Some of the questions I get as a Entrepreneur, often than none is, ”How do I put this together, what about the colors, patterns and more?

HELP!!” So I wanted to use this blog as a platform to help customers, moms, moguls, with putting together everyday pieces that speaks fashion lol! I think what I have observed over time is that most people think way entirely to hard lol when putting pieces together is so much simpler than you could imagine!

Here are a few tips to get you started:
There is no such things as perfect colors that match.
Own your own creative space! You can use your wardrobe planning as a canvas that you can paint whatever color you like!
Start with your bottoms and work around that! For example, our Michigan weather has been off and on so, we could be dressing for a burr lol and by the time the afternoon approaches you burning up lol! So if you can dress a scarf to cover your neck and maybe a cardigan you will be fine! The illustration of the images above will give you a better idea on keeping warm and fashionable during the fall season! Or even being just warm enough to get pass the morning brisk. I always tell people you never know with Michigan weather lol, we could be dressing for snow or cold lol! Keep your boots close! Lol

Something also to keep in mind is that fall is a in between season, so now is not the time to go out and get a whole new wardrobe! Not just yet lol! And yes you do have something to wear don’t even try it lol!

If you take a closer look at what I have on in the photo, those are all items I have had in my closet, and most of the pieces were purchased from Zoom House of Couture!

Another good way to plan a outfit for the day is sticking with a color and stay within that family of colors. Not matchy, matchy but stay within the same color family! That will help guide your outfit so your not looking like a rainbow or that your ensemble has no direction! You can do this! And if you ever have a question about pieces, you can always email us, zoomhouseofcouture@gmail.com send your photos and we will give you some feed back! Thanks for joining us for our first blog stay tuned for more to come covering fashion, finances, beauty tips and more!
